Dry and windy conditions lead to unusual winter fire bans in Alberta

Although it is still technically winter in Canada, dry and windy conditions have led the Government of Alberta to issue 18 fire bans and fire prevention notices on Mar. 14.

albertafirebans.ca, a Government of Alberta website that lists fire bans and prevention notices in effect, shows fire bans in place in the following areas:

• The Town of Cardston and Cardston County.

• Lethbridge and The County of Lethbridge.

• Vulcan County.

• Special Areas 2, 3 and 4.

• Rocky View County.

• Island Lake South.

• High Prairie.

In addition, fire prevention notices have been issued in:

• M.D. of Pincher Creek No.

• Cypress County.

• M.D. of Acadia No. 34.

• Parkland Beach.

• County of Two Hills No. 2.

• M.D. of Bonnyville No. 87.

• Smoky Lake County.

• Athabasca County.
