Farmers in Manitoba, Saskatchewan hit by flooding, crops and land under water

Farmers in Manitoba and Saskatchewan are bearing the brunt of Prairie flooding, with some at risk of losing both their income and their homes.

Doug Chorney of Keystone Agricultural Producers in Manitoba says farmers were already struggling before the recent torrential rain.

The soggy spring prevented many farmers from getting crops in the ground before the flooding.

Now, Chorney says some people may not only lose this year’s income but their homes as well.

Norm Hall of Agriculture Producers Association of Saskatchewan says farmers in the flood zone in the province were hit hard, but it is too soon to assess how badly.

He says there is also concern about damage to roads and grain storage bins.
