That figure was released by the Property Claim Services of the Insurance Services Office (ISO) which tallies catastrophic weather losses across the United States. Hail and wind on May 28 caused damage to approximately 75% of the residential property in the city, making the storm the costliest weather catastrophe on record for the city, the Insurance Council said. The storm system moved into Oklahoma and caused an additional $450 million of damage. The storm eventually affected seven states, causing insured losses of $1.3 billion. “The Amarillo hailstorm just became the 10th costliest storm on record in the state,” noted Mark Hanna, a spokesperson for the Insurance Council of Texas. “The losses from this hailstorm are comparable to Hurricane Dolly that struck South Padre Island back in 2008.” Canadian Underwriter Print Group 8 LinkedIn LI X (Twitter) logo Facebook Print Group 8
