HALIFAX – A late-fall storm is delivering wet, windy weather to much of Atlantic Canada.

Weather warnings are in effect for parts of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland as a major storm approaches from New England.

Environment Canada says the heaviest rain – up to 100 millimetres – will fall today along New Brunswick’s Fundy coast.

Many areas of the province are getting a messy, mixed bag of snow, freezing rain and rain.

Powerful winds gusting up to 100 kilometres an hour are expected over a large swath of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and the island of Newfoundland.

In the Wreckhouse area of western Newfoundland, forecasters are warning of gusts of 170 km/h or higher before subsiding on Thursday.

The centre of the storm is expected to move Thursday into eastern Quebec and western Labrador.
