SPG Canada is the amalgamation of Canadian MGA brands Cansure, i3 Underwriting, Totten Insurance Group, Beacon, and Anderson McTague & Associates. The merger was announced in August of 2025. The Mode Insurance Services deal marks SPG’s first entry into the auto insurance space. The transaction strengthens its specialty platform and strategically expands its offerings “beyond its core property and casualty (P&C) business,” the company says in a press release. Based in Abbotsford, B.C., and founded in 2014, Mode Insurance Services partners with insurers to provide vehicle replacement insurance, enhanced limited depreciation coverage, and negative equity protection plans. The transaction closed on Dec. 1, 2025. “Looking ahead into 2026, we continue to focus on delivering innovation in the solutions we bring to our customers,” says Cameron Copeland, SPG Canada’s president and CEO. “Earlier this year, we unified five legacy brands under the SPG Canada banner, creating a true market leader in P&C insurance. Welcoming Mode accelerates our commitment to brokers by expanding our offering into a sector where Mode has established a strong and competitive presence. This partnership exemplifies our promise to be the trusted supplier of choice in the Canadian insurance marketplace.” Subscribe to our newsletters Subscribe Subscribe Alyssa DiSabatino Alyssa Di Sabatino has been a reporter for Canadian Underwriter since 2021, covering industry trends, market developments, and emerging risks.
