Acera Insurance Services has partnered with Canada’s second-longest tenured Lloyd’s coverholder, Vancouver, B.C.-based Pemberton Insurance Corp.

Pemberton brings with it binding authority for high-value homes, commercial property and commercial general liability.

Acera has announced several deals in recent months, which have expanded the company’s geographic reach. The Pemberton deal will create the first location in downtown Vancouver, although Acera has established offices in both Burnaby and Surrey, B.C.

“Our continued growth in the West Coast will ensure our distinct Canadian perspective serves the needs of more Canadians,” says Andrew Kemp, executive vice president of P&C and chairman of Acera Insurance. “Pemberton Insurance has over a century-long reputation for providing trusted advice and exceptional service.”

Founded in 1887, the firm’s current 13-person team specializes in commercial insurance and high-net-worth personal insurance.

“Pemberton Insurance has a great history,” says Roger Finnie, who joined the firm in 1980 and has been its president for more than 25 years.

“Technology and economy of scale are changing our industry, and we know Acera Insurance’s depth will take our firm to the next level while carrying on our legacy.”

The Pemberton Insurance partnership closed Sept. 2, and the firm will eventually transition to become Acera Insurance.
