Between Jan. 1, 2009, and Dec. 31, 2012, a total of 3,780 sporty vehicles were reported stolen in the U.S., NICB stated in a press release. “Within that class, the Chevrolet Camaro had the most theft reports (1,509), followed by the Ford Mustang (980) and the Dodge Challenger (782),” NICB stated. “Indeed those three vehicles had the highest theft figures of the entire report.” The theft reports were limited to the 2010, 2011 and 2012 model-year vehicles. Des Plaines, Ill.-based NICB, which is supported by more than 1,000 property and casualty insurance companies and self-insured organizations, focusses on data analytics, investigations, training, legislative advocacy and public awareness.
