Hub acquires new commercial book of business in Ontario

Hub International Ltd. announced Wednesday that its Sinclair Cockburn subsidiary has acquired a commercial book of business from Lisa Cook, an independent broker who will now be working for Hub out of Markham, Ontario.

Cook “will support Hub Ontario’s regional efforts to expand its general middle-market commercial business, focusing on healthcare, manufacturing and pharmaceutical,” Chicago-based Hub said in a press release.

Hub did not disclose the terms of its acquisition.

Hub International, which is owned by Hellman & Friedman LLC, was formed in 1998 through the merger of 11 Canadian brokerages. The firm completed 94 acquisitions from 2011 through the first half of this year, Optis Partners stated in a report released Aug. 5 on mergers and acquisition statistics of insurance brokers and agents.
