The massive debris field has been dispersed by ocean current and is now spread out approximately 3,000 miles, halfway across the Pacific Ocean, cbc.ca reported. The first bits of debris will likely make landfall in the winter of 2012 on a small atolls northwest of the main Haiwaiian Islands. Other pieces are expected to reach the West Coast, stretching from Oregon up to Alaska, between March 2013 and March 2014. Insurers have voiced concern that the debris field could cause damage to insured properties along the coast when it makes landfall.
