Walker’s report references data from the Insurance Corporation of B.C. According to the ICBC data published in the article, there were 870 collisions involving deer in the city between 2005 and 2010. Twenty-five resulted in people being injured or killed. “Although 2005 saw just 100 deer-vehicle collisions, that number jumped to 140 the following year,” Walker wrote. “And by 2009, [the number of deer collisions] had reached 160 incidents.”ICBC identified the intersection of Hwy 19A, Mostar and Rutherford Roads as being the top spot for crashes involving deer, with 16 incidents over the past six years.
