RIMS presents series of awards recognizing risk management excellence

DENVER, Colo. – Mark DeLillo, director of risk management for Taylor Morrison, Inc., was recognized with RIMS’ most prestigious honour, the Harry and Dorothy Goodell Award, on Monday as part of an awards luncheon during the RIMS 2014 Annual Conference & Exhibition in Denver.

Named in honour of the first president of RIMS, the award pays tribute to an individual who has furthered the goals of the society and the risk management discipline through outstanding service and achievement.

DeLillo was among a number of risk professionals recognized at the luncheon, notes a statement from RIMS. The other recipients include the following:

  • Hal D. Larson, vice president and risk manager for Kent Corporation, received the Ron Judd “Heart of RIMS” Award, recipients of which are nominated by chapters for outstanding performance in furthering risk management at the chapter level;
  • Scott B. Clark, risk and benefits officer for Miami-Dade County Public Schools, was presented with the Richard W. Bland Memorial Award, created by RIMS Kansas City Chapter in 1974 to recognize a member’s dedicated commitment in the area of legislation or regulation;
  • Melissa Swanson, risk management analyst for California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo, was honoured with the Cristy Award, which acknowledges the individual who earned the highest marks on the three exams required to earn the Associate of Risk Management designation; and
  • William M. Zachry, vice president of risk management at Safeway Inc., was presented with the 2014 Risk Manager of the Year.

RIMS also recognized the exceptional work of its chapters for outstanding chapter programming and conferences, advancing the risk management profession, outstanding member services, and membership growth.
