RRJ Insurance Group acquires Kitchener, Ont. brokerage

Multi-line brokerage RRJ Insurance Group has purchased Kitchener, Ont.-based Bernhardt Insurance Service in a deal that was effective Dec. 1, 2014.

Bernhardt, which was established in 1937 and offers personal and commercial products, will now operate under the Pioneer Insurance Brokers name and operate out of Pioneer’s location in Kitchener.

“We are delighted with this opportunity to expand our brand and continue the evolution of the RRJ Insurance Group into a significant national brokerage,” Abraham Baboujian, co-CEO of RRJ said in a Dec. 29 announcement.

RRJ’s other Ontario-based businesses include Schofield-Aker Insurance Brokers in Durham, Frost Whetter Oaklin Insurance Brokers in Kawartha Lakes, G.B. Cragg Insurance Brokers in Orillia, and KRG Insurance Brokers in Toronto, Bracebridge and Mississauga.
