Saskatchewan drivers will soon be receiving a new one-part licence with enhanced security elements. Drivers currently hold a two-part licence – a photo ID card and a paper certificate -which must be renewed annually. The new licence includes images and security features that meet international standards much like those used on passports and currency. These features make it easier for law enforcement and retail to determine the authenticity for the card, and make it extremely difficult to counterfeit. The new licence will have a five-year renewal period.
