SGI makes alternate plans for handling regular renewals during postal strike

Regular renewals for insurance policies, drivers’ licenses and vehicle registrations in Saskatchewan will not be mailed during the postal strike, Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) has announced.For driver and vehicle renewals, consumers are encouraged to visit any SGI issuer or branch office to renew their driver’s licence or vehicle registration, or renew their vehicle registration online using the MySGI service.New driver’s licences and photo identification cards will be held until postal service resumes (temporary licences or identification cards are valid for up to 90 days).SGI’s claims branches will contact consumers to arrange pick-up or delivery of claims cheques.For home, auto extension, commercial and agro insurance, SGI Canada is encouraging consumers to visit their brokers to renew their policies in person if it is up for renewal.A broker visit is also recommended for making payment arrangements or picking up refund cheques.
