(Bob) Tisdale, VP of Allstate Canada Group and president and COO of Pembridge Insurance Company and Pafco Insurance Company, as the 2006 recipient of the GTA Fellow Distinction Award. Carla Blackmore, chair of the CIP Society Ontario, said, “Bob Tisdale’s remarkable ability to spend quality time with his family, contribute to his community, be a role model for minor league hockey players, serve in leadership roles for his employer, conduct training and participate on industry committees all while continuing to take courses and obtain designations is definitely an inspiration to others.”The Fellow of Distinction Award was created to recognize outstanding achievement in the insurance industry in Toronto, says a CIP news release.Recipients are nominated by colleagues in the insurance industry. Workers in the insurance and financial sectors were the least likely to be injured or killed in a workplace accident, according to a study by the Centre for the Study of Living Standards.Researchers used data collected by the Association of Workers’ Compensation Boards of Canada and found that the number of workplace fatalities rose 18% between 2004 and 2005.Finance and insurance was the least dangerous industry, with 0.3 fatalities per 100,000 workers, or one death for every 330,000 workers.
