The General Insurance OmbudService (GIO) has announced the appointments of Brigid Murphy and Charles Reid to the organization’s board of directors. Murphy is currently senior vp with the Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company in Toronto, Ontario and brings more than 30 years of industry experience to the board.Reid, a management consultant in Vancouver, British Columbia, also holds more than 30 years of experience. In a statement welcoming them to the GIO board, Glenn Williamson, executive director of the GIO, said, “Both Brigid and Charles bring extensive insight and experience to our organization and we are proud to have them serve on our board.”

Swiss Re has appointed George Quinn as the group chief financial officer and member of the executive committee.Quinn is currently regional chief financial officer for Swiss Re Americas, which accounts for 50% of the business and assets of Swiss Re. “With George Quinn, Swiss Re has nominated an international financial expert with extensive knowledge of Swiss Re and its markets,” said Peter Forstmoser, chairman of the board of directors of Swiss Re. Quinn will assume his new post on March 1, 2007.
