XL Catlin increases aviation liability limit in North America to US$750 million

XL Group plc has increased its limits, in Canada and the United States, to $75 million for aircraft hull insurance and to $750 million for liability insurance.

In North America, XL’s target markets include major and regional airlines, corporate fleets, component manufacturers and fixed-base airport operators.

Its new limits are a 50% increase over previous limits.

“This expansion of limits also applies to XL Catlin’s Aircraft Products Liability and General Liability offerings that are placed on a 100% basis,” stated Dublin-based XL, which on May 1 completed its acquisition of Catlin Group Ltd.

“We’re intent on taking a top three position in the global aviation insurance market,” stated Paul Tuhy, chief underwriting officer of XL Catlin’s global aerospace business.

Another goal for the carrier is “to provide our clients with the opportunity to tap into XL Catlin’s extensive multi-line coverage offering, global expertise and dedicated aviation claims team as they need it,” stated Eric Donofrio, XL Catlin’s chief underwriting officer for aerospace in the Americas region, in the release.

XL-Catlin has aviation specialists in Toronto, Calgary, New York, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco.
