XL Group plc’s (NYSE: XL) environmental business segment is offering pollution insurance protection for Fixed Base Operators at North American airports.

XL offers environmental coverage for airports

The new policy addresses “on-site pollution incidents, including situations arising from noise pollution,” the company announced Tuesday.

“Fixed Base Operators face a number of environmental exposures specific to their work at an airfield,” Matt O’Malley, president of XL’s environmental business in North America.

“Our policy can be customized to recognize these exposures whether they are specific to hangars, fuel tanks, or aircraft fueling,” he said.

The company’s Pollution Protection for Fixed Base Operators provides protection for:

  • Disaster Response Expense including advisory costs, medical expenses, travel, temporary living, among other coverages;
  • Contractors Pollution Legal Liability to provide coverage for contacting operations across the airport
  • Financial Responsibility for Tanks
  • Pollution and Remediation Legal Liability to cover remediation and legal expenses as well as costs related to third-party bodily injury and property damage.

The coverage can also be tailored to the needs of international, regional, municipal and privately-owned airports, the company noted.

XL also offers environmental risk consulting and claims handling services, as well as risk management services such as consulting on avoiding pollution mishaps.
