Commerce, consumers and cities run on data – but who owns it, and who should have access to it? As Google affiliate Sidewalk Labs demonstrated in its real-estate pitch to develop Toronto’s waterfront, the prospect of sensors and cameras on every street raises important questions how to balance the benefits of technology with the privacy of ordinary citizens. Susan Crawford will discuss the innovations in data, connectivity and technology in the public and private realms, as well as the implications and opportunities available to the insurance industry.
