Centralized databases and networks are mass storage devices for our every text, email, image, conversation and experience. There are different kinds of forensic analysis used to recover both existing and deleted data from electronic devices which helps to validate or uncover the facts of a claim. Examples of cases and claims will be used to illustrate the importance of digital evidence and how it can be used in the claims process. . SEMINAR OBJECTIVES Discuss the ever-expanding nature of digital evidence including wearable technology, cloud-based data, and the Internet of Things. Identify how video footage can be recovered from video surveillance systems, even if the actual unit is damaged. Examine current capabilities of computer forensics and understand what is and is not forensically sound. Recognize the unique preservation issues related to cell phone forensics, the proper procedure to collect cell phone evidence, and how location-based information from cell phones can be determined based upon cellular network activity. Discover the types of data that can be recovered from GPS devices including, handheld, marine, aviation, and automotive units. SEMINAR PRESENTER Larry Daniel, EnCE, DFCP, BCE, ACE, AME, CTNS, CTA, CWA Principal Consultant – Guardian Digital Forensics Larry has over thirty years of experience in software development, data recovery, computer and server diagnosis and repair, and network administration. He began performing computer forensics in 2001 and has accumulated over 15,000 hours of experience working in the field of digital forensics. Larry has provided forensic consulting services for computer, cell phone, GPS and cell phone location evidence in hundreds of criminal and civil cases. He has qualified and testified in these areas over 50 times in state and federal courts. He has provided training and continuing education for attorneys, judges and law enforcement personnel. Larry is the author of two books and several articles in various publications.
