The day will commence with a morning presentation from fire dynamics to fire scene protection aimed to increase subrogation success. The afternoon will consist of live burn demonstrations of two burn cells constructed to resemble a furnished room. Audience: Adjusters, Fire Investigators Seminar Objectives: – Review fire dynamics – Examine fire scene examination and evidence preservation – Identify post flashover fire effects on cause classification – Compare smoking vs open flame (incendiary) fires Burn demonstration will include observations and discussion on: – How long it actually takes for a cigarette to ignite – How fast fire develops in a normal bedroom – How to conduct a scene examination – How ventilating fires can damage a scene making it challenging to determine the cause Presenters: Presentations and demonstrations will be conducted by fire investigators and forensic engineers with extensive experience in fire investigations and administering live burns. Attendees will be allocated an area at a safe distance to stand to observe the fire. There’s no seating outside . -Please dress accordingly for the weather (ie. boots, gloves, coat, umbrella). -Burn demonstration will be conducted rain or shine. -Detailed directions and parking instructions will be sent prior to seminar. Number of Continuing Education Credits: 5 Technical Please be aware that tardy arrival or early departure to/from the seminar will preclude IIBC from issuing a CE certificate for this seminar.
