IIBC – Strata Changes: from Earthquakes to Air Space (Vancouver)

With strata development on the rise, the expectations for insurance professionals to respond to unique legal and coverage requirements is continuously evolving. Bare land strata and air space parcels are just two of the dynamic aspects of strata corporations that require strata and the insurance industry to adapt. Our panel will provide a broker, legal, and consumer perspective on key topics changing within the strata industry: bare land strata, deductibles and chargebacks, air space parcels, and earthquake coverage.

SEMINAR OBJECTIVES

• Examine air space parcels agreements, the obligations to insure liabilities within these agreements and easements, and general liability exposures associated with adjacent air space partners
• Define bare land strata corporations, how and why they are formed, their duties and responsibilities, and what needs to be insured
• Explore strata deductibles, and bylaws that permit chargebacks
• Identify earthquake coverage types, geographical and geological regions, and their impact on strata corporations
• Review strata earthquake coverage policy definitions, exclusions, exemptions and the potential implications
