DJC Construction has joined full-service restoration firm GUS’s network of property restoration professionals. The deal brings GUS into Prince Edward Island, which the firm calls “a significant step” for its expansion in Atlantic Canada. Headquartered in Stanhope, P.E.I., DJC Construction specializes in residential and commercial construction projects, including new construction, renovations and remodelling. DJC was founded in 2019 by Declan Shiels, and has since expanded beyond a team of four, including leadership team members Brett Newcombe and Kaylah Gormley. “DJC embodies the heart and drive we look for in a partner,” Jaime Smith, GUS’s director of franchise development, says in a press release. “Their proven track record in construction, combined with a genuine dedication to their community, makes them the perfect team to introduce GUS restoration services to PEI.” GUS’s national strength will serve residents and businesses across PEI when dealing with floods, fires or complex structural losses, the company adds in its release. GUS says it operates the country’s largest 100% Canadian-owned network of property restoration professionals. Established in Quebec City in 1991, GUS has since expanded into a national company with 125 locations across seven provinces and is still growing. Editor’s Note: This article has been amended to show GUS did not acquire DJC Construction, but rather DJC Construction joined GUS’s network. Also, GUS has not expanded into P.E.I. “for the first time,” as initially reported. CU apologizes for the errors.
